Abstract

SORIANO HERNANDEZ, Silvia. Democracy and exclusion: an Ecuadorian indigenous movement proposal. Nómadas [online]. 2011, n.34, pp.45-59. ISSN 0121-7550.

The article studies on the recognition of diversity, taking into account the objectives stated in the political proposal of the Ecuadorian indigenous focusing on the social mobilizations and democracy variables. We find some criticism to democracy as a not integrating process, followed by the search of some theoretical proposals leading us to the debate about the forms in which in democratic Latin American nations, peoples that have been excluded for a long time examine the characteristics of these societies that in daily life and political activities are not democratic. Finally, there is the proposal of a pluralistic State.

Keywords : social mobilization; democracy; Ecuador; indigenous; wrights; identity.
