The article aims to contribute to the construction of social knowledge in the contemporary world; it offers epistemological and methodological clues that could enlighten the trajectory of researchers in the social community who chose for the visibility of knowledge forms that constitutes alternatives to the modern science model inherited from western culture. It concludes stating the need Latin America to generate and develop relevant and pertinent systems of production, use and circulation of knowledge, framed by a transdisciplinary, intersectorial and international perspective.
