URIBE HANABERGH, Verónica. The Colombian Corographical Commission and the Héliographique French Mission: two national projects in the light of the positivism of the 19th century. Hist. Soc. [online]. 2016, n.30, pp.171-197. ISSN 0121-8417. https://doi.org/10.15446/hys.n30.53810.
The aim of this article is to compare the Colombian Corographic Commision and the French Mission Héliographique as state enterprises that used important visual and aesthetic components to back their objectives. These two projects, seen under the light of nineteenth-century positivism, meant to survey their countries using geography and architecture respectively, as basic landscape elements to build the modern nation. Images, elements of survey and power, are understood here as the main link to understand the coincidence of the birth of these projects both at the same time, with very similar purposes, and very different results.
