Abstract

CASTRO GALEANO, Juan Carlos; CARVAJAL SANTOS, Elieser Emilio  and  LOPEZ LEZAMA, Jesús María. Creation of a dielectric testing laboratory in the department of Boyacá. Ing. compet. [online]. 2023, vol.25, n.1, e-20611783.  Epub Dec 30, 2022. ISSN 0123-3033.  https://doi.org/10.25100/iyc.v25i1.11783.

This work presents the experience in the creation of a dielectric testing laboratory designed to perform periodic tests to the personal protection elements used in live works (TCT), in agreement between Empresa de Energía de Boyacá S.A. E.S.P (EBSA) and Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia (UPTC). The motivation arises from the search to improve the health and safety processes at work of the operators of EBSA E.S.P., in addition to avoiding the displacement of tools and isolated basket crane vehicles to other cities for their tests. The tests implemented are performed using the applied voltage method, whose methodology consists of applying a test voltage higher than the operating voltage of the elements under test, at industrial frequency for one minute, which represents dielectric stress on the insulation and makes it possible to verify that the insulating materials are not aged, degraded, contaminated, or perforated. Currently, the laboratory is performing the management system in NTC-ISO/IEC 17025:2017, a standard that governs the implementation of testing and calibration laboratories in Colombia. UPTC now has a dielectric testing laboratory with a testing capacity up to 100 kV, which can be used for teaching, research and extension, which contributes to the strengthening of the links between the University and companies in the electrical sector in the region.
