Abstract
PAEZ TRAPO, Douglas David. Geohistorical evolution of urban morphology of Ambalema, Tolima, Colombia. Perspectiva Geográfica [online]. 2017, vol.22, n.2, pp.137-158. ISSN 0123-3769. https://doi.org/10.19053/01233769.7606.
The main objective of the research was to analyze the configuration of the socio-spatial structure of Ambalema-Tolima, throughout its history. The methodology used was based on a qualitative operationalization, with a descriptive-explanatory design and use of the analytical method. The results achieved allow us to establish that: the value of the location has varied as the importance of the Magdalena River has done, on whose left bank the city has been twice emplaced; The Situation presents an alternate succession of favorable and unfavorable regional positions, the unfavorable ones being those that have prevailed over time; the value of the location and the favorable nature of the situation have affected the development of urban functions, and these, in turn, are affected by the expansion or reduction of functions; the evolution of the Plan shows the irregularity of its layout and the slow but continuous growth of material space.
