Abstract

The article exposes the discursive analysis of the penultimate story of Los cuentos de Juana, which has the title of Después de meditarlo... by the writer Álvaro Cepeda Samudio. When coining the idea of the same author, for whom the pieces of this work are, more than literature, history, where a textual, intertextual and contextual reading of this story is advanced, assuming the position that this work is an unconventional short novel gestated from the logic of the absurd, and not a compendium of autonomous stories. The results show that the advanced reading experiment associates and glimpses historical backgrounds of the traumatic historical event of the Masacre Bananera, happened in the Department of Magdalena (Colombia), in 1928. In this context, it emerges how the symbiosis between landowners, settlers and foreign investors incited violence and labor injustices that resulted in repression and death of a segment of the rural proletariat of the bananera zone.
