MARLES-VALENCIA, Liliana. The Experience of Writing in the Flesh: La Carne de René. []. , 58, pp.44-55.   27--2024. ISSN 0123-4870.  https://doi.org/10.17227/folios.58-16573.

This paper proposes an interpretation of the "Escuela del dolor", which is the place that main character attends in La carne de René (1952), as the articulation of Virgilio Piñera's poetic agenda and personal experience. For the cuban author, the true writing is and must be a painful practice. In that way, the hypothesis is that the framework of René's experience, compiles the main principles of Piñera's aesthetics: defence of the immanence of literature, fundamental role of the pain and sacrifice, preeminence of the form and outstanding corporal nature of writing.
