In this work, I will try to state accurately the origin of the word "consensus", its implications and its connotations, enlightened by the doctrine of classic natural law. I will try to demonstrate how modern use of the word "consensus" is totally separate from the notion of truth. An analysis of main contractualism and new contractualism authors is done; and their theories are compared with those belonging to some authors which represent contemporaneous iusnaturalism.
