Abstract

LOPEZ-VILLANUEVA, Marcelo Andrés; MIGUEL-VELASCO, Andrés Enrique  and  MARTINEZ-GARCIA, Karina Aidee. Cities: analysis of inter-and intra-urban inequalities. The case of Oaxaca, Mexico (2000-2015). Bitácora Urbano Territorial [online]. 2018, vol.28, n.3, pp.27-38. ISSN 0124-7913.  https://doi.org/10.15446/bitacora.v28n3.47448.

The inter and intraurban inequality derived from the behavior of concentration and dispersion of development in cities is analyzed, taking as reference the case of Oaxaca, Mexico during 2000 and 2015. The methodology used uses the concept of territorial symmetry, and this allowed to detect that the analyzed cities behave like a dispersed system of central places, that show a low interaction, existing the concentration of income between and within them; which gives rise to their inter and intraurban inequalities. With this type of analysis, we intend to deduce strategies that allow the design of public policies aimed at achieving the equality of human populations.

Keywords : territorial concentration; regional disparities; spatial symmetry.
