Abstract

GUERRERO, Patricia  and  PALMA, Evelyn. Social representations on education of street boys and girls in Santiago and Quito. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2010, vol.8, n.2, pp.1025-1038. ISSN 1692-715X.

The following paper shows the results of a social representation action-search about inequalities in street children education. The main results shows that street children leaves school because they feel expel due to bad grades and punishment related to their bad adaptation to school regulations. In a neoliberal society where schools are indicated as the only method of social mobility, such expulsion is an expulsion from society and from an opportunity of a decent life.

Keywords : street children; education; social mobility.
