Abstract

DIAZ, Silvia Paulina. Being part of the social world as a child. Rev.latinoam.cienc.soc.niñez juv [online]. 2010, vol.8, n.2, pp.1149-1157. ISSN 1692-715X.

In this article I present children's participation as a finding of a research process carried out through 2007 with schooled boys and girls living in Medellin, Colombia. The main objective addressed the analysis of the social representations these boys and girls shared about their citizenship. From a qualitative and ethnographic approach data was analyzed from the perspective of the collective health, the sociology of childhood and children's participation. The conclusions led to remark that boys and girls state that they are ready to make use to their right to participate as a dimension in their lives that would be possible within the current normative framework, however it is not part of social practices yet.

Keywords : child; participation; recognition; inclusion.
