One mechanism for promoting economic growth and it´s convergence, at regional level originates in connection with public investment. Therefore, oriented to the provision of public capital regional policy is currently the most widely used alternative to solve territorial disparities. In this paper the effects of public investment is examined, from transfers or allocations from the national budget, economic growth and convergence departmental Colombia in the period 1994-2012 the panel data methodology was used to capture heterogeneity associated with unobservable characteristics between departments and time. The results reveal the presence of absolute and conditional β convergence in the period analyzed; however, a direct relationship of transfers is not evident within the departmental convergence process for the selected sample, is not evidence.
