Abstract

ROJAS, Reinaldo. Etienne Bloch: Bibliographer of Marc Bloch. Hist.mem. [online]. 2018, n.16, pp.349-367. ISSN 2027-5137.  https://doi.org/10.19053/20275137.n16.2018.7730.

Étienne Bloch (1921-2009) dedicated the last years of his life to the rescue and dissemination of the written work of his father, the French historian Marc Bloch (1886-1944). From 1997 until his death in 2009, he promoted the critical study of Blochian historiography through the Marc Bloch Association, the critical edition of his works, and the promotion of studies on the life of his father, thanks to the public disclosure of their family archives. It is an extraordinary almost unprecedented event, that the son of a great historian, without previous knowledge of the task, can be transformed into one of the most important scholars and critics of the work of one of the most important historians of the XX century, on a global level. The purpose of this essay is to introduce the reader to the minute and important labor of Étienne Bloch as bibliographer of Marc Bloch.

Keywords : Marc Bloch; École des Annales; Historian's Task.
