Abstract

YELIN, Julieta Rebeca. BRIEF STATUS OF THE ANIMAL QUESTION. perifrasis. rev.lit.teor.crit. [online]. 2017, vol.8, n.15, pp.29-43. ISSN 2145-8987.

This paper examines some of the transformations imposed by the development and expansion of the field of the so-called "Animal Studies" to the sphere of the Humanities; more specifically: in the creation of new critical tools that address the artistic experience. Starting from the reading of two recent essays devoted to the always disturbing presence of the animal imaginary in the visual arts, I analyze some notions that could enrich the field of studies beyond its disciplinary limits, projecting it, for example, to the scope of literary criticism. These notions are, among others, "surface", "animal phenomenology" and "antirrepresentacional epistemology".

Keywords : animal question; posthumanities; visual arts; literary criticism; thinking.
