Abstract

GARCIA HUIDOBRO, Cecilia. THE DONOSO AFFAIR, A ROUND IN THE MEXICAN PRESS. perifrasis. rev.lit.teor.crit. [online]. 2022, vol.13, n.25, pp.173-191.  Epub Feb 27, 2022. ISSN 2145-8987.  https://doi.org/10.25025/perifrasis202213.25.11.

Without calibrating the consequences, José Donoso worked as a literary critic in Mexico in 1965. He openly and incisively reviewed the local narrative novelties of the time. The effects were immediate: a strange revenge ended with him in the hospital. An editorial commentary, inserted in what would be his last article in Mexico, unleashed a literary controversy that included prominent writers, such as Carlos Fuentes, Vicente Leñero and Juan García Ponce. The Donoso affair constitutes a complex hiatus in the masculine pact that has characterized the Latin American Boom.

Keywords : José Donoso; literary criticism; México; Latin American Boom.
