In his career as a writer, Héctor Libertella went through multiple paths: from fictional author to critic, theorist, proof-reader, editor and translator. His production as an antho logist was not concise- and, on the contrary, it showed to be full of lucid reflections and cultural conscious operations. With each anthology, Libertella presented his way of concei ving and delimiting the rules of the international and Argentine literary field. His opinions about his predecessors and contemporaries and the place in which he wanted to be read. This branch of his production culminates with an avant-garde gesture: the confection of a critical history of the Argentine literature that intends to explain a global overview of the national literature at the same time that he uses and thwarts his mechanisms and tools of analysis and justification. In the following work, we will analyze the different functions that these anthologies had for the author and the effect they had on his poetics.
