Abstract
TORRES-PABON, Giselle. Use of Time and Eating Habits. A Socio-demographic Analysis of Colombian Homes, 2012 and 2017. Ens. Econ. [online]. 2021, vol.31, n.59, pp.112-133. Epub Dec 26, 2021. ISSN 0121-117X. https://doi.org/10.15446/ede.v31n59.87763.
The aim of this article is to analyze the socio-demographic differences in the use of time in the different activities that make up eating habits in Colombian households. To develop this analysis the National Survey of the Use of Time, carried out by the National Department of Statistics (DANE) between 2012 and 2017, was examined. A quantitative methodology was used: descriptive statistics and estimates of linear models controlled by the social demographic characteristics of the homes. The main hypothesis is that there are socio-demographic differences in the use of time in what refers to eating habits, as well as an expected change in the time allotted to eating habits in the homes. The results prove there are social demographic inequalities and a decrease in time allotted to eating habits. In addition to what is proposed, food insecurity is uncovered.
